How To

Drug Prescriptions

Home  Support  Documentation  Drug Prescriptions

Drug Prescriptions contains the list of drugs prescribed for a specified patient.

To manage the prescriptions, select a patient. You can choose a patient by any one of the following methods:

  • Click the Search Patient button on the toolbar. You can select a patient from the list of recorded patients.
  • Type one or more keywords in the Patient text box and click the Search Patient button on the toolbar. This lists the patients matching the specified keywords.

Adding a Drug Prescription

1. Click the Add Drug Prescription on the toolbar.

2. In the Drug Prescription editor, click the Add Drug button.

3. Fill in the required fields.

4. Click Save and Close in both the editors to save the record.

Editing a Drug Prescription

1. Select a prescription and click the Edit button on the toolbar.

2. In the Drug Prescription editor, select the details of the drug to be modified and click the Edit Drug button.

3. Edit the details.

4. Click Save and Close in both the editors to save the record.

Deleting a Drug Prescription

1. Select a prescription and click the Delete button on the toolbar.

2. Click the Yes button to confirm. The selected prescription is deleted.

Removing a prescription removes all the records linked to that prescription.

When you select a Drug Group, only those drugs in the group are displayed under Drug Name.

If the option Is Billable is selected:

  • The prescribed drug, by default, is added to Items. The name of the drug added is the drug name and the quanitity (for example, Ampicillin tb 20 mg). Based on the quantity on hand and the dosage prescribed, the current on hand changes. If the drug you prescribed is not in stock, the On hand displays a negative value.
  • An invoice for the prescribed drug is created, and is reflected in Customer Invoices.

For the relation between drug prescription and billing, see How to work with Medical Billing.
